Binta Maïga has over 10 years’ experience advising businesses at all stages of their development. She advises on multi-jurisdictional transactions, in particular mergers and acquisitions and project development in OHADA and beyond.
Binta acts for a wide range of clientele, including international banking, finance and industrial groups, with a particular focus on the mining and natural resources, energy and telecommunications sectors.
She recently advised the BaoSteel group on the Simandou project, Guinea’s largest iron ore project. Valued at USD 15 billion, this is the largest integrated mining and infrastructure project on the African continent. In mergers and acquisitions, she advised Oryx Energies on its strategic acquisition of Puma Energy in Senegal.
She holds an MBA in International Business Law, Management and Finance from ESLSCA Business School Paris and a Masters in Banking & Insurance Legal Engineering from Dakar Bourguiba University. Prior to joining Thiam & Associés, she practiced with leading Senegalese law firms and as a senior legal advisor with Ecobank Guinea.
